Harvest

Elias trying on Simon's mask (upside down)
Corbin wasn't up for going into the combine this year, so he watched for birds instead.
Elias and Uncle Simon ready to go!
Don't tell Grampa, but Elias drove the combine!
Corbin was willing to get on the tractor.
Grampa took them for a ride around the yard.

Corbin is 6

iPods for the boys were a hit!  Best purchases EVER!
Both Corbin and Elias love listening to music!  It is nice not having to listen to the VBS music in the car anymore (although it was pretty good).
We had his family party at home on his birthday.
He is a huge F-M Red Hawks fan.  So we had a party for him at the last game of the season!  He got his name on the board too!  And it ended with fireworks!  He loved it!

Kindergarten & Pre-School

For the 2012-2013 school year, we are homeschooling!
Corbin is officially a Kindergartener!
Elias is a Pre-Schooler!

Both the boys have been enjoying homeschooling!  We are using My Father's World cirriculum this year.  Corbin started reading and is loving it!  Elias is Mr. Creative and plays with clay almost every day while I am teaching Corbin.  I (Emily) am really enjoying teaching the boys!  I think it is something that I have been called to do.  Being a Mommy is a lot of work!  But being a teacher is a lot of fun!  :)

CO crew comes to visit!

Shay M. made sure to scare us all with his special find...FROG!

 cousins
 Sweet Brynn :)
Brooke E. was a little fish!
Swimming and fishing at the beach was a blast!

Corbin found the 2nd watermelon for the watermelon hunt!
 Corbin and Chloe
Eli had at least 4 pieces!

Chloe and Corbin were buds the entire weekend!  I don't think they even considered playing with anyone else.
 Playing some kickball.
Joel played on the wiffleball time that WON!  Sweet jump right over the ball!

Daffni and Sally

In April, we decided that it would be fun to have some chickens and ducks.
We went to the Farm Supply store and bought 6 egg layers, 14 butchering and 2 ducks.
And after one horrible event, we have one surviving duck (Sally) and one surviving chicken (Daffni the egg layer).

Two weeks ago, we came home from Convention in Fergus Falls and there were 6 eggs in the coup!
And we have been getting about one egg per day since!

Corbin keeps telling us how proud he is of our chicken.  Daffni is such a good girl!

Roy G Biv

Elias and Corbin really wanted to paint today.  They haven't painted in months!

Corbin is very excited to start school next week!
He will officially be a Kindergartener!
And I will officially become a teacher!
We are all excited to start the adventure of homeschooling!

lately...and PLEASE PRAY

the boys have taken over our dining room table with their legos
it is endless entertainment
and seemingly endless fights as well
while some children ask for candy
our boys
especially Elias
ask for fruits and vegetables
and how can you say no to that?
Elias is 3 1/2 years old
and he is just lately starting to potty train
partly because he has some stubborn Norwegian in him
partly because we are almost never home two days in a row
with the same parent supervising
it is frustrating
but as of now we have about 60 more free pull-ups
so he has a few more weeks to get it down before he is going to be in underwear
because we can not buy any more
nerf gun games are an almost daily event
we have found it to be great exercise too
and it is kind fun
until someone gets hurt
Emily has been working a lot of hours at the restaurant
Joel is balancing work with all the farm chores
Corbin started going to AWANA and is loving it
Elias just gets to go along with the ride
PLEASE PRAY:
We do ask for prayers as on February 8 Joel meets with a Dr. at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to see if (but more likely when) he will need surgery. He has Trigeminal Neuralgia. He has had a lot of pain on the left side of his face since September. It was controlled with pain meds for a month or so, but they have stopped doing their job. We will be there for at least a week. God knows our needs, so please pray with us.
Thank you
