We were blessed with the opportunity to take a trip west to Oregon this past week! So...we packed our bags and away we went! We got up really early on the 24th (too early for us who like our sleep) and headed to the train station! We were supposed to get a warning when the train was getting close so we hung out until then in the station...putting together a puzzle.
Simon and Corbin checked the vibrations of the tracks to estimate the time of arrival.

We were enjoying the puzzle when the train station guy said, "you have about a minute!" So, we ran to the car to get our luggage, raced as fast as possible to get everything onboard, Corbin was thrown from Simon's arms into my mom's arms, and then a quick good-bye while the train started moving!!! It was a little chaotic and the anxiety of that moment still gets my heart rate soaring...but that was the only stress of the trip!
Once on the train...and calmed down a bit....we enjoyed a meal in the dining car and then hung out in the lounge car for most of the first day (it was a 28 hour trip). We got some pretty good stories to tell about our experiences with the other riders!!!
Grandma Cathy came along for the trip, too! She brought lots of goodies for Corbin: paper, crayons, clay, a book, treats, post-it notes, and Corbin really enjoyed her purse and cell phone too!!Finally, Corbin did nap...although it took a lot of work to get him down!
We saw a lot of beautiful sights through the windows! The ride there did seem long, but it went pretty well with a 19 month old!!!
